Our Story
Girls in Motion was born in March 2023, inspired by a visit to Shivpuri, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, India. There, our founder witnessed the daily barriers young girls face: despite being the first in their families to attend school, many struggled with health challenges like anaemia, malnutrition, and recurring infections—compounded by early marriage expectations and social discrimination.
Nearly half of schoolgirls in Madhya Pradesh are forced to leave before completing their education.
School was meant to be a space for growth, but instead, too many girls drifted away, burdened by absenteeism and invisible pressures.
Moved by their resilience and potential, Girls in Motion began as a grassroots movement to redefine what’s possible for girls. We created school-based sports clubs to offer more than just exercise—spaces where girls could reclaim strength, develop confidence, and support one another. Here, sport is a catalyst: for health, equality, and personal transformation.
In Madhya Pradesh, we’re breaking the cycle, so every schoolgirl can step onto the court, and into her power.
Since 2023 we have be partnering with government schools to deliver professional-grade courts, culturally sensitive uniforms, dedicated female coaches, and nutrition and wellness education. With tailored support, we help girls stay in school, feel confident in their bodies, and see themselves as leaders of change in their communities.
We believe every girl deserves the power to move, to play, to dream and to grow into the empowered women who will inspire the next generation.
